Opinion: Why the incumbent DPS board members — Baldermann and Lindsay — must go

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:12:19 GMT

After the violence in and around Denver Public School earlier this year, we are some of the many parents who founded or joined grassroots organizations concerned with the safety of Denver’s schools and classrooms.Even after months of advocacy, there has not been enough change.Next week’s school board election is a long-awaited opportunity for all Denver voters to send a clear message about the current Denver school board’s disregard for student and staff safety and their disdain for transparency and accountability. We join and urge all Denver voters to reject the incumbent Board candidates Scott Baldermann in District 1, and Charmaine Lindsay in District 5.Here’s why:After the March 2023 shooting of two staff members at East High School, and continuing this day, DPS refuses to share basic safety data with families, including the number of students who — similar to the student at East who shot the staff members — undergo a daily pat down for weapons before joining classro...

Broncos stock report: Best outing of the season yet continues a positive trend for RB Javonte Williams

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:12:19 GMT

Stock UpRB Javonte WilliamsBest outing of the year so far for Williams. He had 96 total yards (82 rushing) on 18 touches. Williams continues to look stronger as he gets further and further off last year’s knee injury. And that should only continue. Only bad thing for Williams against the Packers came on the opening drive when his first rushing touchdown of the year was wiped off the board by a holding penalty.CB Fabian MoreauThe veteran corner has been Denver’s dime defensive back most of the year, but took over a starting spot Sunday and played the whole way. Moreau had played 28 snaps in the first six weeks and then got 64 against Green Bay. He’s played 96 games in his career, started about half and looked like a veteran across from Pat Surtain II on Sunday. A new duo going forward for Denver? A trade candidate showcase? Time will tell.WR Courtland SuttonDenver’s veteran receiver had his best outing of the year, finishing with six catches for 76 and his fifth touchdown catch of th...

Flo Milli Goes Super Novo: “Female hip-hop” isn’t a genre any more than “all-female rock band” is a genre. That said, it’s been a joy to witness this era where powerful woman after powerful woman is rising within rap.Cardi, Nicki, Megan, Doja, Coi, Saweetie, DreamDoll, Doechii and more and more — personally speaking, it feels like at least 80 percent of this writer’s favorite contemporary hip-hop artists are female. Flo Milli is yet another name for that illustrious list. The Alabama-born rapper released her debut single in 2019 — “Beef FloMix.” “In the Party” soon followed, and then the Ho, Why is You Here? mixtape dropped in 2020.
